Understanding Healing in Dentistry
Healing - Not always as simple as it seems
After a tooth-extraction, the body begins a natural healing process.
In many cases, this works well. From the outside, this process often seems complete once the gum has closed. However, healing does not only happen at the surface.
Inside the jaw, bone regeneration is a graded biological process. This process can vary from person to person. In some cases, the area of the former tooth socket may not fully return to its original, completely mineralized structure.
This condition is referred to as CSR (Covered Socket Residuum).
It describes a situation where the surface appears healed, while deeper bone structures may still differ from their original state.
CSR is not necessarily a complication or an error. It can be understood as a possible outcome within a natural healing process. Healing is influenced by many factors and does not always follow the same pattern.
Because these changes occur beneath the surface, they are not visible without specific diagnostics. Understanding this helps to take a more precise and comprehensive view of healing after dental procedures.Ghanaati-Education focuses on how healing can be better supported.
